Are you thinking of selling your home? Or is your home already on the market and your just not getting the feedback you desire? In Northwest Arkansas we have a great source in Donna Schoby, Ready, Set, Stage, who has given us five great tips on things you can do when selling your home to give it the edge.
How many times has this happened to you while having your home listed? Your home shows and the feedback is not negative the new prospective buyers didn’t not like your house but there was just something……..
It’s hard for most people to visualize anything other than what they see when viewing homes, so if you have a room that serves several purposes (i.e. a home office/exercise room or a guestroom/playroom, pick one purpose, and stick with it when staging your home.

It’s hard for most people to visualize anything other than what they see when viewing homes, so if you have a room that serves several purposes (i.e. a home office/exercise room or a guestroom/playroom, pick one purpose, and stick with it when staging your home.
Things To Do:
• Keep in mind that master bedrooms are for sleeping and relaxing, not for ironing, exercising, or gift wrapping. Make sure your master shows the potential buyer this will be a great place to unwind and relax.
• Remember that the dining room is one of the first rooms the buyers will see. Be sure to stage it as only a dining room, and not a craft area, study or catch all for toys and homework papers.
• Remember that the garage’s primary purpose is for parking cars. Empty the garage as best you can and show that at least one car can be parked in there.
• If you have a large space that has different purposes (i.e. a game room that serves as a play area for kids and a scrapbooking area for mom, set up clear zones to delineate the t.v. viewing area, the craft area, the game playing area, etc.

What New Home Buyers Are Looking For

RISMEDIA, January 22, 2010—Better Homes and Gardens recently revealed proprietary research and insights on what consumers are looking for in their next home and overall priorities guiding current and future home improvement projects.
In a speech at the NAHB International Builders Show, Eliot Nusbaum, Better Homes and Gardens Executive Editor Home Design, presented the results of the Next Home Survey along with reported trends from a nationwide network of field editors, the magazine’s Home Improvement Challenge and editorial coverage.
The survey of nationwide potential new home buyers and existing home owners who are planning improvements in the next few months found top priorities to include price, energy-efficiency, organization and comfort.
“Not surprisingly, we continue to see a ‘cents and sensibility’ approach when it comes to buying or improving a home, with practicality and price being top priorities,” said Nusbaum. “Today’s homeowner is also looking for a home that fits the entire family–from a multi-tasking home office, to expanding storage space needs, to a living room that can adapt to advancements in home entertainment and technology.”

One may think this is a loft in Chicago or some other big city…..but this Urban Style Loft is actually located in a small outlying area in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas which is on the edge of Missouri. I’m pretty sure it broke the freezing mark last night in Northwest Arkansas. So it seems that it’s that time of year again. Time to take the kiddies to see St. Nick. Time to let them sit on his furry red lap and whisper what they want for Christmas. Santa will be at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade Mall starting Saturday, November 21st! Don’t forget to go see him…
